‘Stuff the Bus’ kicks off today

For the fourth straight year, HRT, local radio station Z104, and WTKR NewsChannel 3 are teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program to “Stuff the Bus” with toys for less fortunate families across Hampton Roads.

Starting Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4, Shaggy, a Z104 radio personality, will eat and sleep aboard an HRT bus. During the day, he will open the bus to the public, who are asked to “stuff the bus” with new, unwrapped toys. Each night, the bus will move to a different collection site. Below are the locations where the bus will be parked for the rest of the week:

December 2 Patrick Henry Mall

December 3 Toys R Us Lynnhaven Mall

December 4 Military Circle Mall

The Salvation Army will then sort the toys and distribute them to families who have pre-qualified to receive assistance.

The Toys for Tots Program is an annual campaign in which toys are collected and distributed to needy children in the community where the campaign is conducted. Last year, the Hampton Roads community collected over 60,000 toys.
