David Taylor

David Taylor is the Internal Auditor. Mr. Taylor joined Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) in November 2011 and is responsible for developing the Internal Audit department. This function involves providing independent, objective consulting services designed to add value and improve the operations of the organization. Internal Audit helps HRT accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. His position reports to HRT’s Commission where he is tasked with providing audit reports.

Mr. Taylor has over 18 years experience in the auditing and accounting fields. He comes from Sentara Healthcare where he worked as both an Internal and Integrated Auditor.

Mr. Taylor received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) in 1994 from Radford University. He also received a Master’s of Science (Accounting) in 2000 from Old Dominion University. He has also earned the designation as a Certified Internal Controls Auditor (CICA).
