The city wants Hampton Roads Transit to temporarily discontinue the Ghent leg of a bus route that connects to the EVMC/Fort Norfolk light rail station. Chances are, few people will notice.
According to information from the city, the NET route through Ghent had dismal ridership, on average about a handful of people on each trip. The neighborhood service was added last August.
The break in service, which would last about two months, is expected to save the city about $60,000, according to city spokeswoman Lori Crouch. The NET will continue to connect the Cedar Grove transfer center to stops downtown.
