More streets closing for light-rail work

Two more downtown streets are closing for light-rail construction.

Starting Monday, both the northbound and southbound lanes of Monticello Avenue, from City Hall Avenue to Freemason Street, will close. Tazewell Street will also close between Granby Street and Monticello Avenue.

This closure will be in effect for one week. The northbound lane will reopen Oct. 19.

During the closure, there will be no valet service at MacArthur Center.

Bank Street is closed to southbound traffic between City Hall Avenue and Plume Street through Wednesday, weather permitting. Northbound traffic is not affected.

Off-duty Norfolk police officers will be stationed at nearby intersections to direct traffic.
