No one was injured after a bus caught fire along Front Street in Norfolk, according to officials.

Capt. Mike Hicks with the Norfolk Fire Department told WAVY.com fire crews arrived on scene just before 6 p.m. The fire is under control at this time.

HRT spokesman Tom Holden said the operator of the Route 23 bus saw smoked coming from the bus and stopped the bus. Route 23 runs from Medical Tower/Military Circle/JANAF. It also connects to the Tide at the EVMC/Fort Norfolk light rail station.

No passengers were on board the bus when the fire sparked, Holden added. The bus was on a layover point.
