Norfolk judges say nearby HRT bus stop is a hazard

The city’s District Court judges have thrown the weight of their collective gavel behind an unlikely subject: traffic engineering.

The six jurists sent a formal letter to offer their opinion on what they deem a precariously positioned Hampton Roads Transit bus stop near the courthouse.

“After careful observation of the traffic flow on St. Paul’s Boulevard at its intersection with Plume Street, it is the unanimous consensus of the judges that the bus stop located at that intersection creates a traffic hazard,” Judge Bruce A. Wilcox wrote in the June 28 letter to Mayor Paul Fraim and City Manager Marcus Jones.
