The political action committee formed to build support for light rail in the city has a fresh infusion of cash, much of it coming from developers.
Move Hampton Roads has raised $185,000 to sway voters ahead of the nonbinding November referendum that will ask Virginia Beach residents if they want the city to pursue a light-rail system to link to the Norfolk Tide.
The group hopes to raise more than $300,000 and has launched a website, distributed bumper stickers and plans a TV advertising campaign. Development company Armada Hoffler gave Move Hampton Roads $50,000, the largest contribution so far.
