Texting still legal – for riders of HRT

NORFOLK, Va. – On July 1, it will become illegal for any driver in Virginia to text or send an e-mail while operating a motor vehicle.

Hampton Roads Transit wants to remind everyone that texting while riding the bus is not only legal but a great idea because you’ll be saving money on gas, polluting less because you’re taking transit, and helping to reduce traffic congestion.

For riders of The MAX, HRT’s commuter express bus service, texting is perfectly acceptable, and the Wi-Fi on the buses is pretty nice, too.
