The Loop changes its route
News Release
Norfolk, Va. – The downtown Portsmouth Loop began operating along two new routes on Monday with service to the Park View and Westbury neighborhoods.

The Loop will continue serving downtown with stops along High, Crawford and Water streets, but will no longer service Leckie Street or the Naval Medical Center. Regulations that limited access to the facility until after 10:30 a.m. hindered the shuttle’s usefulness.
Previously, The Loop operated along a route that was generally confined to downtown Portsmouth, but the modified service will now serve more neighborhoods using two routes that work in conjunction with each other.
Both routes will serve the Food Lion on Peninsula Avenue, while the Park View route will run along portions of Elm Avenue and the Westbury route will service portions of County Street. The changes come at the request of the city and after an HRT review of the shuttles’ effectiveness.
The Loop began service on April 7, 2008. There are two hybrid-electric shuttles that are funded through a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant.
