Purchase Your Pass from a Ticket Vending Machine (TVM)

Ticket vending machines (TVMs) are a convenient way to purchase the right fare card – from local routes to MAX services, to shuttles and ferries. TVMs even sell reduced fare passes for seniors and persons with disabilities.

TVMs are easy to use. Instructions on the screen prompt you how to select a fare card and how to pay for it. The machine will dispense your ticket upon paying. Please be advised that all passes are not active until inserted into the farebox. HRT TVMs accepts cash and conducts credit and debit transactions.

TVM on light rail issue an IOU?

If a TVM on the light rail system fails to give proper change, it is programmed to issue an IOU. A valid IOU can be redeemed Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., at 1500 Monticello Avenue, Norfolk. For more information, please call 222-6100.
